Exactly the same species as you get in the grocery store, but not nearly as nice to eat. The breeds in the grocery store, and planted in your home garden are very different.
None the less, it is possible to gather wild carrots and eat them like their domestic breatheren. Considering they are an annoying weed, this may be a beneficial way to get rid of them. Start viewing them as a crop to be harvested to extinction.
