It is unfortunate that this debate has been called. I agree, people in my region do have difficulty purchasing basic food stuffs. Unfortunately, the reason this problem exists is a "Provincial Food Strategy". The province has stepped in and nationalized most of the food industry, with the result that food prices went up. The province, in the interest of ensuring a continued food supply, increased prices to keep companies alive, ensuring continued access to food.

I just re-read that, and it sounds so conspiratorial, but I am paraphrasing the reasoning from the milk legislation.

I am begging the Federal Government, do not create a "food plan". I can barely afford to eat now.
