I watched the first episode of Deadwood last night and will not be watching another. While The Wife and I did not enjoy the show, it did begin an interesting discussion about the foul language. Interestingly we discovered that foul language is not common in Anarchistic societies. The threat of retaliatory violence ensures that people are very tolerant of one another: it just isn't worth getting beaten to death because you have a foul mouth and don't like the way someone dresses.
