How do you suggest checking it? I understand that an ultrasound test can detect tungsten in a gold bar or coin, and of course, you do not want to drill your bullion or coins, lest you harm the weight / value.
Gold is generally tested by weight and volume. Tungsten poses a particular problem because it's density is so close to gold (though this has always been a problem because you can make a cheap alloy identical to gold's density anyway). Notice all of the discussed counterfeits were 10 ounce bars.
Cheap, wallet sized testers exist, and increase the difficult of modifying a coin (or making a complete fake). As more people use testers, the risk of not being able to sell a counterfeit increases, reducing profit. This would increase the per coin labour costs associated with making an indistinguishable fake. The more people that use the coin detectors, the more difficult it becomes to make passable counterfeits, the lower the profit margin becomes, and the less likely people are to do it.
The same principle applies to encrypted emails. The more people use it, the greater the cost of breaking messages, the less likely attackers will make attempts.
which put it only a right click away from every context where you need it.
As for the 'tungsten problem' I smell a rat. This is exactly the sort of thing that the State does to spread FUD about Gold, while its fraudulent fiat currency continues to die, in a vain attempt to postpone the inevitable.
While we are at it, I really do wish the OWS / Anonymous crowd would cotton on to gold and understand that they could destroy the entire edifice if they simply said.... 'Go for the Gold!':

Ive been using PGP since the 90's; I really cannot understand why it is not spread everywhere now. Its super easy to use with software like GPG Tools:

But I fear their true aim is to inflict socialism on everyone, not Liberty.
