Today, I got this from an employer
Haven’t had time to look at your resume yet but thought I will forward you this info. The funding for the position is coming through the Small Business Internship Program which stipulates candidates must be under 30 years of age intending to return to education in the future and be a permanent resident of Canada do you meet these criteria?
- I have multiple degrees... I have no intention of returning to job training. Education is continuous and self-directed at this point
- I'm too old (35)
Over the last two years, I've been getting turned down for positions I am highly qualified for in my area, because I'm too old. I would like to thank the Government of Nova Scotia for encouraging economic development in my area. (aka: STOP HELPING ME!)
I don't want to try to take on the government in court, I just want them to stop interfering. If these groups were unable to afford a full time position (through government funding) they may have accepted my proposal to do contract work for them. I could then have increased the size of my business... growing the economy.
As it is, I have closed my business down and have taken a job in the city, thereby decreasing the size of the economy.
