As a volunteer Fire fighter, I was at the local Remembrance Day Service at the Legion. The Minister's sermon was left me slack-jawed. She is a German whose father and grandfather were both drafted in WWII, and talked about how we can't allow this day to focus on nationalism, and the glorification of the military (as learned by her family the hard way); we need to get back to the roots of the day: ending wars.

The best line was "What do we do when our lawfully elected government goes crazy".

I was grinning by the end of it, the Master of Ceremonies was not. He ended the event with "Be loyal to your Queen, Be loyal to your Country".

I shook her hand on the way out.
