The Wife is in the market for a new car, but raised an interesting question this morning... How does one pay for a car?
I mean the physical act of getting money from my hands to the dealership's hands. Between government regulation, and bank "safegaurds" I can't get move enough money to buy it.
1. No way to move that much cash by debit
2. Credit card companies block transactions of that size
3. Banks won't let me withdraw that much
So how does one get money from your account into the dealership's.
Also, cashier's cheques from the bank. You have to go in person, and there's a fee, but it can be done! (this is how I made the down payment on my house).
The cheque and cashier's cheque are both good ideas. Thank-you.
Both have disadvantages: personal cheques take time to clear, which means I don't get the vehicle right away; and I dislike paying fees just to carry the money myself (isn't that the point to cash?).
I miss thousand dollar bills.
