She had the money and the freedom to leave, but instead chose to stay, fight and repeatedly ask the law ... to intervene. Walking away from abusive partners, at the first sign of physical abuse, would be just as powerful and would send an equally strong message to that partner. ... apart from the first incident, she was not a victim ... she got caught up in the fighting, and she ... wanted to win. This is not heroic. This is not standing up for one’s rights. This is pathological and we need to stop pretending otherwise.
