I finally get Aleph0 and Aleph1 as a concept!

The Wife and I had the TV on in the background last weekend. The documentary we had on was explaining a solution the Hilbert Problem 1 (not the first time I've seen it)... but something about the guys explanation clicked!

This morning, over breakfast, The Wife stated she hadn't got that part, I asked if I could try to explain it. After borrowing a pen from the waitress, and covering the placemat with a bunch of scribbles, I waited for The Wife's response.

I submit this as evidence that I understand the concept: after an appropriate period of consideration, she asked a question that implies the definition of the continuum (to be exact, she asked if, Aleph0 ^ 2 ?= Aleph0 ^3).

When I say I get it, I only mean that I can now conceive the concept. This does not mean I fully understand it, but only that I can start asking sensible questions about it.

I am now only a hundred years behind in understanding mathematics.
