I once differentiated between crazy and eccentric to a friend. Basically, you are eccentric if you can afford to pay for the socially unacceptable things you do.
Being able to afford my eccentricities is an extension of living a relaxed lifestyle. Living comfortably within my means is a huge part of enjoying life.
To that end, over this winter, I built a moped for myself.
1. I learned a lot about small engines
2. I now have a much lower cost vehicle (both environmentally and financially)
3. I get to have annoyed looks from people for being that eccentric guy that does weird stuff
Unfortunately, I can't idle while its like this, I have to cut the engine every time I stop (red-lights / stop signs / intersections). With every start being a bump-start, that gets old really fast.
The only thing that would be better would be to find a small-engine shop within driving distance... and have them fix it.
I think I just need to take that bit apart, and put it back together while I pay special attention to all the little details (none of which I actually know).
Unfortunately, I got rid of my small engine repair book (never thought I'd need it again).
