I see The Guardian is has gone the way of The CBC. It's opninion pieces lack fundamental research or knowledge on the subject they speak of, while driving a thinly veiled political agenda.

As it gets worse, the comments get more spectacular:

This is such a 'let them eat cake' moment (yes I know she never really said it, but I think Mr. Inman just did.)

He is lumping wage earning individuals together with nation sized companies like Walmart and Exxon, like there are no fundamental differences between them. If I don't maintain my savings then you tell me how I'm supposed to weather the next 0.25 to 4 years (of this incredible asshole who somehow got himself elected). To hell with them all. If the economy is so dependent on spending sprees whose only purpose is to promote more spending sprees then let it die a natural and most deserved death.

This kind of casual rhetoric comes from a hegemonic assumption that the working classes are supposed to die destitute, toothless, and spend every dime to their last breath. I'm not sure who else he thinks we could depend on whenever there is a hiccup in this precarious scheme. And God forbid anyone plan to give something to their offspring when they die. Remember when?

No thank you Mr. Inman. I'm keeping my savings and spend what I need to. And let's hear a bit more of your ideas for getting that offshore money back home again first.
