So now I've tried mead. But it looks like there are 1001 flavors to choose from, so all I can say is I like this one, but not sure if it's because it's mead or because of the raspberry chipotle. It is a bit wine-y, but not exactly.
We have "independent" breweries in NS, but they are all sub-licensed from the government. This means that getting one of those sub-licences mean selling the quality of your product to a government official.
The law explicitly states the goal to be "protect the government's product image" (paraphrased). It means there isn't a lot of risk taking in terms of variety.
