Ah yes, the wit and wisdom of Thomas Sowell, promoter of the innate fairness of economic inequality, victim-blamer, enemy of social safety nets. Even a stopped clock, as they say ...
Really? I enjoyed a couple of his books (years ago now)

He's not a dumb guy -- Professor at Stanford, etc. But he seems to have embraced being a go-to intellectual who validates right-wing talking points on many subjects.
He tends, despite his economics and other academic credentials, to wave away context in making (dubious) points. Here's a recent article Sowell wrote on why Reaganomics was really a good thing:
It makes statements without providing validation, while encouraging the reader to 'do their own research.' As you're probably aware, the right wing has made 'do your own research' a sort of code-phrase for 'locate crazy sources, fake news, and non-objective BS analytics, and then echo-chamber them.'
And here's an unrelated article by Glenn Kessler, in the Washington Post, that provides sources for assertions, and refutes every point, methodically -- revealing Sowell's (and Rand Paul's) entire argument to be specious.
