Her insight would come from access to certain tools. Anyone with access to the same tools can take the measurements.

Assuming we have access to the same information (my symptoms), how would she know better?

It may be matter of her needing to be right ?

If you feel good and rested in the morning you would know if you got good sleep . My employer has sleep apnea and is always tired and short temp . Also hasty and makes lots of errors we know that do not happen when he puts be on sleep machine and has good sleep.

To be fair, I have one symptom, but that symptom is so generic as to be indicative of everything from apnea, to disentary, to cancer, to the common cold, to stress.

I suspect it is worse than you say. I do not believe she has a lot of medical training, rather I believe she is (effectively) a sales associate. Her job is to sell sleep machines on behalf of the clinic.

I'll never forget a brief biography of Dr. Conan Doyle. Early in his career he quit a job working at a free health clinic (owned by a Mr. Budd, I believe). People would come to Dr. Budd (MD) for free healthcare... what was noticeable is that every patient walked out the door with a prescription. (Even if it was just for something like a preventative)

Fortunately, just down the street was a conveniently placed chemist shop (owned by a Mrs. Budd). Dr. Budd (PhD Chem) was happy to fill any pharmaceutical needs you may have... for a fee.

As for your problem , lack of sleep is serious , I have very light sleep , propably very short on deep sleep .
See if you can get consultant somewhere else .

Did I mention she isn't an MD? I always worry when the diagnosis and prescription are completed prior to my seeing the receptionist.

Oh... she also claimed that a sleep machine would improve weight loss, and cure a congenital issue (that got mentioned during the interview as a potential cause).

Is this private clinic or public hospital . Sounds like conflict of interest to me .

Private "Sleep Therapy Center"... I think its time to have words with my GP.

She should not have sent me there for tests. I wonder if she gets kick backs for referrals.

My wife had tests done at local hospital . They did testing there and then sent her to a sleep specialist to explain test results .
Never tried to sell her anything . Her sleep is messed up because of her meds . Nothing they can do .
