What province are you from? Has BC become very insular?
I am not quite sure what is going on there.

I'm in Nova Scotia, I've lived both in BC and Alberta. When people learn I'm from Alberta they give me stink eye

There is a bit of banter between Kiwis and Aussies but when crunch comes to crunch we stick together.

Legally the Provinces of Canada are more the like the Independent States that make up America, or the Nations of Europe that United; rather than the administrative prefects of Japan, administrative provences of France. It leads to friction every now and again.

Culturally, blaming Albertans, becomes more popular under certain governments who ramp up the anti-Alberta rhetoric as part of their election strategy. Both Prime Minister Trudeau's have now used that strategy.

I'm more interested at the Economic level: I'm not aware of an inter-provincial trade war ever happening before.

The biggest issue is why the national NDP leader hasn't stepped in and made them sit down for arbitration. 2 NDP prov leaders playing the fools is pretty bad. And this time I am of a supportive mind for BC. It's morally right. Fuck short term need. If they stopped Site C and just completely went to wind or solar... In the end, this is about selling to China. Diversifying trade partners is pretty important to Canada. 75% of trade goes to USA, and it's an ugly bedfellow.

Part of the issue there is that the Federal NDP party is a distinct organization (not a parent organization). This was evidenced when Paul Rose took leadership of the Quebec NDP.

He could at least take a leadership role here, either way. It will unfold as we expect. Almost summertime for the governments anyways. It will be a fall issue.

Rather than a random party leader, it may be more appropriate for the Prime Minister to weigh in. I'd be interested to see that, my impression is that this is more controversial than the PM likes.

It's 2 NDP govts. I'm sure the Liberals love this. They'll stay out of it and let them kill each other first.
